5 Funny Reusable Bags Stories
While I was busy surveying people about how they remember their reusable bags I also asked them if they had any stories about reusable bags to share. I wasn’t sure what I would hear, but I did get quite a few good stories. Here is a collection of the 5 funniest ones I received.
Smile like you mean it!
Big Green Purse?
Last year, I picked up several reusable store bags for myself and family members. I gave one to my mom and she really made over it, saying how pretty she thought it was and also handy to have. She kept thanking me, which I thought was kind of weird, but I didn’t say anything about it to her.
The next week, she stopped by to visit and had the reusable bag hung over her arm. She thought it was a PURSE! She had it loaded down with stuff and was excited that I had found such a nice big “purse” for her.
When I told her what it really was we had a good laugh about it the remainder of the afternoon.
Smile Like You Mean it!
It was a pleasant evening when I was walking back home through a park after shopping at a grocery. Everybody smiled at me and I felt very nice and thought indeed people are becoming more polite and lighthearted, which made me have a nice stroll through the park too. When I reached my house I realized that print on the reusable bag which I purchased at the store had big bold lettering “Give me a big smile” with a smiley picture near it.
No Really, What’s in the Bag?
While attending a conference hosted by Siemens, the technology company, my husband received a beautiful cloth bag with the Siemens name. I quickly claimed it for my own because I had been thinking about buying a reusable bag but didn’t want to spend money on one. The first time I used it I was carrying it (full of purchases) through the crowded parking lot to get to my car when I ran into an old friend.
My friend, unfamiliar with the company Siemens, glanced at my bag and started laughing loudly. Even louder she started pointing and saying things like Wanda bought semen. I didn’t know you could get semen here. She went on and on and my face turned redder and redder while people were walking by and staring. Needless to say, I returned the bag to my husband and on my next trip to the store I ponied up the dough for one of their reusable bags.
Fruit Loose
My mother, being Taiwanese, has used reusable bags since it was “in style”. Once, she insisted on carrying a watermelon in an exceptionally large reusable bag of hers. Right after she went grocery shopping, we stopped by a friends house, which was on the hill. My mom opened up the trunk, where the watermelon/bag was, and picked up the bag. Much to her dismay, the watermelon ripped through the reusable bag and started rolling down the hill, leaving just a trail of watermelon juice in its wake.
Kids Today…
“My husband brought home a reusable bag that was a gift from one of his customers. The Viking logo was for a manufacturing firm he placed orders with, and this was one item they could give him without being accused of bribery with. I used it several times on trips to the drug store or book store. Our then two year old daughter then adopted it and used it to carry baby dolls and toys around the house.
I took her with me to the book store. I carried her. She carried the bag. While we were in the store, a visitor asked, “”Oh, is that a Viking’s bag?”"
“No,” my daughter remarked, “it’s blue.”
